It’s local election time. Early May we choose local politicians to represent us locally on local issues.

All the political parties are on TV peddling their brands of politics. But truly local issues, ones affecting us directly in our local communities, are strangely absent from their party political broadcasts. So I guess we should choose the person not the party affiliation. But who gets my vote? To help me, candidate names can be seen on posters in local supporters’ windows, albeit usually affiliated to particular parties.

I’m voting independent. I’m voting for Whist Drive. Local politics is nothing without drive.

In the States, local politics are the only ones you really have a say in as a voter. I don't want to get controversial, but I think national elections in my country are rigged. Hell, the local ones are probably rigged too, but you have to have some kind of hope.

Thanks Christopher. Personally, I have a spectacularly low opinion of almost all politicians of whatever political persuasion. Those that get any power and influence would seem to care rather more about personal advancement than service of the electorate that supported them. But maybe I’m just a cynic🥴.
