“Bloody right it’s complicated!” I said, “so let’s have some straight answers please, mate. I’ll ask and you answer! Right?”
”OK, OK... but I will need a favour though...”
“Ask me about the favour when you’ve answered all my questions, please. And simple, straight answers too please, I don’t want you giving me a load of bullshit answers that are cryptic or mysterious, or both!”
”I’ll do my best!”
“I’m not convinced your best is always good enough, mate!”
”Huh! Just get on with it, please.”
“First question. Are you alive or dead?”
”Officially... or unofficially?”
“Flesh and blood... living!”

Maybe....🤔

I’m afraid I have to admit that I’m still writing this on the fly, without any plan, so your guess is as good as mine, Christopher, as to where it’s going.

On a different topic, Christopher, have you ever read the ‘Gunther’ novels of Philip Kerr? They are really good and strangely instructive too. Gunther is a non-Nazi Berlin cop and the novels spread from about 1934 until the 1950s. He’s on the ‘right’ side in a country that is/was very much on the wrong side. Kerr wrote and researched very well, as he should have as he worked for one of the big ad agencies I worked at at the same time as me. There are quite a number in the series. But it might not be your thing. I find them engrossing.

I haven't heard of them but it sounds cool. I'll check them out.
