Time and Time Again #4

by

I hung on long enough the hear that Aidan’s phone was ringing, which at first really surprised me, but then I figured that maybe his widow had taken over his phone, or one of his kids. But wouldn’t it be embarrassing if one of them answered and I had to explain why I’d called his number. And it would probably have upset them.

I was on the point of ending the call when there was a click. Mightily relieved, I thought. “It’s gone to voicemail!”

But I was wrong!

“Hello, Aidan’s phone. Who wants him?... Only kidding... it’s me, Aidan.”

That would be spooky, to hear a friend's voice on the other end of the phone after they died. My niece's husband Dave died a few years ago but I still have his contact in my phone. I just couldn't delete it.

True story, a few weeks after he died both my niece and her mother (my sister) got a call from Dave's phone. It rang a couple of times and then stopped. Kinda strange.

I had to stop there last night around Midnight, Christopher, but there’s more... quite a bit more I hope. Not quite sure exactly where it’s going yet, but it’s fun thinking through options!😁. What you said about your niece’s husband was the same thing that prompted this. I was scrolling through my ‘favourites’ and there was Steve McB. Like you, I thought I should probably delete it, but simply couldn’t. And that got me thinking...
