Years ago I discovered the extent of musical plagiarism by some of the acknowledged ‘greats’. Think Dylan, Beatles, Zeppelin, Handel and even Mozart among many others! All at it! I was reminded yesterday as BBC TV channels provided no hiding place from showtunes.

‘Lesser artists borrow, great artists steal’ said Igor Stravinsky.

Maybe there are shades of musical plagiarism.... borrowing, influence, tribute... downright theft! Think I’ll give them unplagiarised original names.

Remember, once you hear something, you can’t unhear it... but maybe improve, reinvent or give tribute. Go ahead!

“Plagiarism is inevitable.” Best embrace it!
