Sometimes...
Little Lily, nearly 3, was taken to see the film ‘Matilda’. She loved it! When she saw us next, with great delight she sang Matilda’s song “Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty!” Just a catchy song... or did she know what it meant?
Next day my wife was childminding. Lily went off to the kitchen. Eventually, Mrs H went to find her. Lily had moved a chair, climbed on it and was caught red handed in the biscuit tin.
“LILY! That’s very naughty!”
“Sometimes...” Lily started singing.
“But not this time!” Was my wife’s speedy reply.
“OKaaay!”

Little Lily is nearly 3? Oh my, time is going so fast, Neville. Lovely drabble and nice to see that Mrs H. is being on top of things and has witty, fast answers (I can't never do that, lol)... Please, please, more drabbles with Little Lily in it. She seems such a cutie and I am sure she wraps you all around her little finger :-) <3

Thanks Frenchie! Yes, Lily is a real character and has a great sense of humour too. Every time I go round to her house I am unsure whether she will immediately hurl herself at me for a hug or give me a threatening look. It probably depends on whether or not before I’ve arrived “sometimes she’s been a little bit naughty.”... and been found out. It’s a Lily lottery!

She sure is, Richard! She did this afternoon when she came round to our house. She artfully negotiated not one but two Jammie Dodgers and a surplus chocolate Father Christmas from the Christmas Tree... and then when her brother arrived with his dad to collect her, the negotiations ramped up a gear as he called for fair play and then she became competitive. I’ve no idea what her treasure trove had finally become as she walked out of the door🥴
