All dressed in white, a noisy band of strange folk invaded The Bull. All sported double sashes of royal blue and yellow and jingly jangly bells on their ankles. A strange breed indeed!

They danced, they pranced to the strains of accordions, waving white handkerchiefs in the air, but violence would come later after cavorting like whirling dervishes. There was laughing, there was shouting, there was drinking...

But then they produced stout sticks for the stick dance. Oh dear! Like warriors of old they struck! Clunk! Clunk! Clunk! No winners, no casualties... white flags waved. But there was no surrender!

I looked them up. A dandy bunch!

Well, we don't have to wonder if Drew is ever coming back. His account is gone. He apparently deleted it. I've been trying to go back and archive some of my old drabbles and I noticed that all my comments back to Drew didn't have a prompt before them. He was my first follower here. And I followed him on Twitter before that. I don't know how someone that experienced at drabbling could just get it out of their system, but there you go.

Thanks for that info Christopher. That is very sad indeed. I wonder if something happened to him (Covid?) and his family have deleted his account. I sincerely hope not because Drew is the drabblemeister imho. I will try to find if he is still publishing in the titles he was before. It’s a real mystery... and a real loss to the Drablr community. I checked those I am following and he has disappeared. Have you checked with Michael Cook? (info@drablr.com)

I haven't yet. I suppose I could shoot him an email and see if he knows anything.

You and Drew were the top dogs when I got here. I jumped up eventually with quantity if not quality, but I always felt that you and Drew were what kept this place going. It's a shame if he didn't feel that way.

But, onward and upward, stiff upper lip, and all that.

I emailed Michael and he said he spoke with Drew, who said he would be back eventually but for now wanted to delete his account. I don't understand why he would want to delete all that work but maybe he'll be back someday and explain it.

Thanks Christopher. Well that’s certainly a replied. I must say that I had feared the worse, and, being active on Drablr is one thing, but he has been such a brilliant supporter and mentor for us all on Drablr, he had become a real friend despite never having actually met in person (as I regard you too.)

Thanks to Michael, another really decent bloke, for letting us know. I appreciate your sleuthing work, Christopher, finding out a bit more about the mystery.

I noticed his comments had disappeared as well. Thanks for checking with Michael, Neville. I'm glad that Drew himself is still OK after everything that's happened in the last two years with the pandemic.

I like that there was no surrender, Morris dancing may after all have a slightly scary side as evidenced if you ever watch a seventies SciI Fi gem called Children Of The Stones. Something else I enjoyed in a broadly similar way came from the imaginations of Neil Gaiman and Lenny Henry and was entitled Neverwhere. . Would enjoy seeing Drews' work recalibrated in a televisual or audio form like this should he see fit. In some form anyway, .

You're welcome, Jamie. I was just glad to find out he was okay, although I wish he hadn't deleted his account.

Ditto what Christopher said. I agree entirely.
