Wine etiquette #2

by

Today’s decision not to risk the wine dilemma worked out well. Our hosts had plenty of champagne and fine red wine to accompany our excellent meal.

But the wine issue got me remembering the way my late best friend and fellow Drablr McBrevity, dealt with things. A very successful commercial planning guru, he knew his wine, he liked his wine and he was expert in what he liked!

He always took a bottle of stunning wine to whatever party he went. He would make sure though that he drank it... and that I did too! That’s true friendship!

Cheers Steve!

Very posh! I'm dying for those chocolates;))

They were delicious! And they shared them with all the guests. Who needs wine when you’ve got posh chocolates? But my friend was very clever, he always got to drink great wine… usually accompanied by chocolates, but he preferred the wine! One of our last trips before he died was to Calais in France, just the two of us and just for lunch… and some fine wine… but not too much as he was driving. Before returning we sat on the famous Rodin statue. Lots of laughs on that memorable trip.

Sorry about your friend. Hang on to those memories and this drabble is a beautiful reflection of your friendship.
I'm craving some now! Let me guess, Charbonnel? or a belgian? (i'm sorry I just nose dive into desserts)

These were Lily O’Brien’s, available in our poshest supermarket chain, Waitrose. (I did buy some for just us too!... there are still a few left for tonight’s treat!)

I believe my friend is still the 6th most productive Drablr in terms of number of drabbles published on this site, even though he died over two years ago! I have promised to publish an anthology of his drabbles for his wife and family, but I need to get my arse in gear! You can check him out under ‘Steve McBrevity’ (not completely his real name, but completely his humour. We moved in next door to him in 1973... when we had a mutual interest in ale!😁🍺

That's a great tribute to your thick friend, Neville. I'll be sure to check his drabbles. I bet he was a King of Humor!

Hi Neville, I'm glad that you suggested Sir Steve McB drabbles. I've started to read from the start and they are terrific. I'm finding it hard to pluck a favorite.
Hallo sunshine- definitely needed at this time.
Close shave- reminds me of grandpa's experience
Tear your hair out and Wonky Bishop had me chuckling.
Could you let their family know that we still enjoy his work and he is fondly remembered.
Such a shame i joined very late. could have learnt from him.
I'll continue to read, time and again. Thank you, Neville.

I will certainly let Steve's family know that you are still enjoying his drabbles, Verity. Thanks very much for reading them. The new profile picture that will appear shortly to replace my wife's photo is not of me, but of McBrevity, sitting on the famous Burghers of Calais statue, by Rodin, in Calais, after a fine lunch!

And the Burghers of Calais to Burgers in MCDonald's - drabble was indeed a sacre bleu end!
