I never can forget today
This day defined my life
When five and fifty years ago
I met the girl to be my wife.
A pretty girl, just sweet sixteen
And me just four years more
She stood beside the fireplace
As I leaned beside the door.
I looked, and then our eyes did meet
Strange magic in the air
And then she came and asked my name
My life began right there.
We danced, we kissed in close embrace
‘Til party was over and done
I told my mum when I got home
“I think this is the one!”

Lovely story, Neville!
Wishing the young gramps many more wonderful, healthy and fun-filled years ahead !!

Thanks, Verity! It’s a completely true story, including my verbatim remark that my mother kept reminding me of! To my shame, I have told this story many times on Drablr, a different account each time and sometimes in rhyme. This is today’s variant😊.

...and I was right; she was, is and will always be ‘the one’.
