Up at crack of dawn, washed, shaved, suited and booted by 7.30. Check! (well not so much ‘suited’ but bejeaned) Drove over to the farm to collect the gammon. Opened at 8.00. Joined queue! Check!
Beautiful morning, but I braved 3.5 degrees below zero and ice across country lane. Slid, but controlled. Check! Queued outside...brrrr! Bought gammon. Check!... and some bacon... Check! Misted screen, sun directly in my eyes, and foreknowledge of where the ice was, meant a very slow return home. Safe in our drive. Check! Home! Check! Bacon and egg butty😋 (well I deserved it, didn’t I?) Checkmate!

It was all true of course. However, Christmas is cancelled for us this year... but that’s another true story...

The world is praying for a better Christmas next year. Please stay safe and take care

Thank you Verity. My world is praying for my wife in the bedroom below, very recently in intensive care for the effects of at botched ‘routine’ operation at the local hospital and returned to me yesterday, the second day ‘Boxing Day’ (UK) of Christmas. A most bizarre and questionable doctors’ decision to release her back to a house where the other occupant (me) has Covid-19! When things are less sore, maybe it will be a mini series of a true story (though nobody will believe it.....). There’s plenty more to the story. Let’s hope it has a happy ending!

I vicariously enjoyed your sandwich by the way.

Thanks Jamie, she’s recovering downstairs; I’m still CV-19 positive.
The sandwich though (in the middle of the ‘storm’) was awesome. Enjoy, albeit vicariously!
