Today’s the day. The weekend. Time to create.
Liam’s finest steak, Thelma’s onions and mushrooms. Robarts’ bacon. Neville’s garden herbs.. and homemade ale!
First, chopped onion, garlic, bacon soften and sizzle together.
Cubed seasoned steak separately sears. Sense of smell stirs.
‘Swoosh!’ as the ale hits the base of the hot pan and its beery beefy aroma hits the nose. ‘Deglazing’ complete!
Sliced mushrooms fried separately complete the main ingredients.
Into the casserole goes everything... enhanced with garden herbs.
Two hours??? Before the pie crust is added?
Can I wait that long?
I guess I’d better start cooking soon....

We’ve just finished eating half of it. I cheapskated a bit on the puff pastry by using some shop-bought pre-rolled pastry that was months and months out of date code. It didn’t matter though as the filling was stupendous... so rich and so delish! It was only later that I admitted to Mrs H that I’d used my homemade beer. She liked it anyway! My thanks go to Si and Dave, The Hairy Bikers who supplied the inspiration and the recipe👍👍

Yum and Yum! I've used old stuff too. Doesn't matter when it's the sides and scrapes ;-) Recipe well executed, Chef !!

Thanks Frenchie.... even though I say it myself, the steak pie tasted glorious, even reheated the next day (yesterday). Huge thanks to the Hairy Bikers!
