Only in Totnes #5

by

Now if you’m a stranger to Totnes, you’ll find it’s rather strange too, with some strange people and some strange goings on. Expect to see laid-back dudes in dreads, tributes to Flower Power, 50s, 60s, 70s throwbacks, road-sweepingly long grey hair and beards, works of art indelibly captured on arms, legs, backs, torsos, heads and even faces, itinerant players and ephemeral food factors. On the air are heady reminders of homemade pie, joss-sticks and more than a hint of ganga.

And maybe the odd jester or two will help you keep your wits about you.

Very strange...

The whole family is trying the pie on Friday; I’ll let you know how good it is. Pie Street it’s called and I hope it’ll be right up our street!

But for the next two days, thanks to my elder son, we are sitting on our balcony in the superbly located Salcombe Harbour Hotel, looking across the ria to Smalls Cove, the beach we our family have grown up on for holidays every year for the past 38. Imho Salcombe is the most lovely place in England. Thanks Tom!

(But actually I think they wanted to get rid of us for a couple of nights!).

Back to their house though for pies on Friday with all the family.
