Mrs H’s family culture was blame and subsequent penitence. My family were ‘oh wellers’, tending to move on quickly.

I’d been helping in the garden, tree lopping and expending lots of energy. Dusk came down fast and inadvertently, a garden fork remained on the lawn.

But next day, our bubblemate Harry, 5, arrived for some exercise in the garden. The fork lay hidden from view up on the lawn. Harry started playing with it.

“Harry! You mustn’t play with that, it’s dangerous!”

“Well Baba shouldn’t have left it there, Granny!”

Huh! Thanks mate! Well he clearly doesn’t take after me!
