It’s on yet again tonight... a truly great film, and one of the best final words in any movie, “Gesundheit!”. ‘The Taking of Pelham 123’, the original, starring Walter Matthau at his quirky best. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen it. Each time it’s gripping, glorious and gruesome.

As the arch-baddie electrocutes himself (spoiler alert!), I can’t help thinking, ‘Hey, he’s not really like that!’ The late, great Robert Shaw dies in antiheroic style in the NY subway.

Sharing drinks with him in the buffet car from York, he’d seemed a nice bloke. Maybe I was wrong!

After watching 'From Russia With Love and the above mentioned film I'd have been very nervous about being on or near a train with Mr Shaw given his track record.

Haha! He was actually charming and seemed totally unassuming, Jamie, but thinking about it, that’s probably what makes an arch-villain. Like the Sanish Inquisition, nobody would expect it!
