They say things come in threes. Like my three loves.
Wendy; small, dark, pretty, mysterious. My first love brought me music, in between the heartaches. She brought me Dionne Warwick, but the melodies were sad as she decided to walk on by.
Susan; dark, pretty, thoughtful, deep and just a little vain. My second love brought me challenge and Jacques Brel. She brought me ‘Ne me quitte pas’... but she did, when she left me.
Corrine; petite, pretty, fair, loyal and very lovely. She brought me no music save the delightful soundtrack of our lives together. My true love song.

Prompted by Arsene Wenger’s choice of Jacques Brel’s glorious song ‘Ne me quitte pas’ on today's Desert Island Discs.

My wife has reminded me that she has brought me one tune though. ‘Gentille Alouette’, which she hums continuously, all the time it seems, and for many, many years...

Thanks Drew
I think I discovered Wendy a while back. She was a psychotherapist of some sort I think. Probably now retired. Lovely, classy girl, but I’m glad I got out of that... psychotherapy!😰 that’s scary!
As for Susan, that makes this comment too long, so I will deal with her, so to speak, in another comment...

And now to Susan, possibly a whole drabblesworth. Susan, whom I described as just a little vain turned out to be just a lot vain! She was very pretty and (which I absolutely loved) she had a delightful little bump on her nose. I made the enormous mistake of telling her how much I loved her nose (I’ve always been benignly tactless). The wrong thing to say and possibly why she dumped me. A year later I happened to bump into her outside M&S in Norwich. She had a perfect nose, the result of a ‘nose job’. Perfect nose but she had lost the essence of herself. So no regrets there either!

Mrs H has a perfect nose, but it loses her nil points!

Thanks Marion. I think my first loves taught me what mattered and what might bring true harmony.
