She was a beauty. Sitting in the dock, awaiting sentencing.
”The Defendant will rise.” announced the clerk of court. But the defendant rose not. The shortsighted Judge, unaware of her contempt, began his judgement.
“You have been found guilty of murder most foul. Never have I come across such heinous crimes as perpetrated by you. Not enough to kill, but you have also eaten your many victims in the most callous, unfeeling way. I therefore sentence you to the maximum penalty permitted. You will be imprisoned for the rest of your natural life!”
The damselfly merely shrugged and fluttered. “Whatever!”

Following an internet search, it seems I can claim the word ‘contempting’... so I do!

Another Nevellian addition to the language! -))))

I guess I’d better start making a list. It’s a bit of a laugh though!😁. When I worked in advertising, one of our clients, a famous razor blade and sword company, hunted in packs. They were good lads and we had lots of laughs. They were a bit posy too. What they didn’t know though was that we ad guys would invent new words and slip them into conversation. Without them questioning, they eventually started using them. Hilarious!

The favourite word that I personally introduced was panacebo... something (or often someone - we all know a few) claiming to do everything, but actually doing bugger all. I have a nascent publishing enterprise thusly named, for a laugh. Got the urls, now I need to do some publishing!

Haha! You've been coining a lot of new words lately.

I do my best, Christopher! 😁

Just wanted to let you know, I sent a message to Drew on Goodreads and he responded back this morning. He's just been in a writing rut like a lot of us during this lockdown but he said he's starting to find his way again and said he'd be back here eventually. He said he missed you and Jeff and the rest of us. So hopefully he'll be back soon.

Thanks very much Christopher. That really is a relief. Although we’ve all not met, I regard you all as really good mates who share an interest. I think everyone seems to have had a similar problem, but of course it’s a vicious cycle. If nobody’s writing, then nobody can read new stuff which puts a damper on creating new stuff (if you see what I mean?)
Christopher almost 4 years ago
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about the cycle. I'm trying to get my groove back.
I feel the same way about this place and all of you. It's like a new millennium version of pen pals.
Oh, by the way, I'll start posting the new Jake Randolph story within the next week. I just want to get a little further into it before I start posting. This is about the fifth Jake story I've started since I finished posting the last one but this is the first one I've felt the fire about.

Yippee!😁 Can’t wait! 👍👍👍

I also feel like we're all mates even though I'm an unsociable git that sits in the corner and falls behind with the longer stories ;-)))
Christopher almost 4 years ago
I know what you mean, Jamie. That two month absence of mine means I'm still trying to catch up on everyone's postings.

And what about my Fedeltà? I offer no excuses... I simply have to get on with it!
Christopher almost 4 years ago
Yeah, you definitely need to get back to that. But you'll have to do another one of those recap drabbles like the last time you had a bit of a gap in the story.
Neville Hunt almost 4 years ago
Yeah, I figured I’d need to do that. Why, some of the readers ain’t around any more! 🥴
Christopher almost 4 years ago
Well, I could use a refresher. And Drew said he'll be back eventually.

‘Ev-en-tuall-y’... reminds me of Manuel in one of the episodes of Fawlty Towers (the one where Basil has a bet on Dragonfly at the races but daren’t let Sybil know... I think?). Let’s hope Drew’s eventually isn’t too far away 🤞
Christopher almost 4 years ago
Haha! I remember it well.
