My 10 year old granddaughter has a passion. She’s a synchronised swimmer. For school, she’s written about her favourite place.

Underwater.. A magical kingdom for you and me.
Underwater... A secret submerged playground below a shimmering sunlit layer of light.
Underwater... A clear open space to roam free.
Underwater... Dancing in happiness, a creative theatre to make up routines.
In the water... Making exhausting exercise funner than ever.
Underwater... Racing free in water I love, like a dove flying high.
Underwater... Swoosh.

(I liked her use of ‘funner’ as comparative for fun. She insisted it was more fun! So true!)

Thanks Drew. She’s a bright girl and I was so impressed with her mature use of language, rhetorical devices and the structure too. I think I wrote about her synchronised swimming after we’d watched her and her team come an impressive 15th out of 24 in the national championships at the Olympic swimming pool. I might have posted some written work too. I have time right now to check that out! I am certain she will write more as she has bags of self-motivation.

Well, if the swimming doesn't work out she certainly could move on to creative writing.

Thanks Christopher. I think she plans to continue with both. We had an online creative brainstorming again today. I struggled to keep up with her!

I just melted.... so sweet <3 We have a young writer in the making. I wonder if writing runs in the family? hmmm...but then again, she is a synchronised swimmer...

Beautiful. But I wonder at what age she will be when others rob her of her voice. Well it won't happen on here!
