In these times of Easter lockdown we needed comforting. What better comfort than Mrs H’s renowned ‘Mars Bar Biscuits’... a long established family holiday treat... demanded by the family, loved by all their friends.

Larder check:
Condensed milk? Check!
Lyle’s Golden Syrup? Check!
Self-raising flour? Check!
Extrafine plain chocolate? Check!
Butter? Check!
Caster sugar? Check!
Soft brown sugar? Check!

Good to go!

Three stages... and at each stage I was looking on, drooling. After the caramel was poured on I was allowed to lick the saucepan. A kid again.

24 chocolate caramel biscuits. And one big kid in heaven!

How can that be done, I’m asking myself Jeff. I’ll see if it fits a drabble, but I doubt it. I could put a Dropbox link in the comments, but I don’t know if sitemeister Michael allows it. Will do my best though. Hope I’m allowed another one tonight🤞. Should be OK because Mrs H is a chocoholic too!

I'll settle for imagining them as needing to cut down on that sort of thing. They sound delicious Neville . :-))

I used to do that when I was a kid as well. My mom would yell for me and I'd come running! The best was when she used the electric beater and those things would be dripping with chocolate!

They are delicious. Looking at them one might dismiss them as just Millionaire’s Shortbread, but they are so, so much better than those I can assure you.

Mrs H made another batch yesterday... for a birthday ‘party’ this week. Hope they last that long! 😋

We had two each last evening. That leaves 20. Party on Wednesday, so even with two days in between, I should be OK. (But the really great thing is that the recipe only needs half the tin of condensed milk... so the other half is waiting in the fridge. Mustn't leave it there too long... And besides, I'm not sure I'll be able to wait for two weeks until her 'party' for her batch so I might have a crack at making another batch myself...)

This is such a wonderful hiatus to these strange times. I feel as if I need to do this justice by attempting to vicariously create this beautiful sense of nostalgia. Purely as a need to empathise with you on as many levels as possible. I probably won't enjoy eating them...
