Three plus years ago I wrote of my tears of joy when my very best friend finally got a kidney transplant. Our friendship of over forty years could continue.
Today it ended... in a way. There have been tears; there will be more. These tears though are not of joy but extreme sadness and sense of loss. His kidney issues were tough, but cruel fate delivered a second whammy. The big C, becoming a multiple whammy when it spread. Chemical intervention impossible lest it interfere with his anti-rejection kidney drugs.
A life far too brief.
Bye Steve my friend.

Thanks Drew. I regret it is Steve McB (not his real surname of course). I have known him since April 29 1973, the day we made an offer on the house next door to him. We became instant great mates partly through our love of real ale and the fact that a pub dispensing such a beverage was 50 yards down the hill. In the days of the 10.30 closing time, we would leave home at 10.25; just enough time for a couple of pints. An exceedingly good bloke. Very sad.

At 269 drabbles, Steve is still the fifth most productive Drablr and Iām going to copy all his drabble output and print it as a drabblthology to give to his wife and two children.

I'm so sorry to hear about that, Neville. I was hoping Steve would be coming back to Drablr to continue some of the things he had been working on. He will be missed here as well as with all of you there.
RIP to Steve McBrevity.
