So many great things in my life
None of which money can buy
Counting my blessings always
I’m lucky, I cannot deny
Taking my grandson to school
Joy as he greets passers-by
Times with the family together
The banter, the laughter, oh my
Taking a walk with my love
Watching Red Kites in the sky
Hearing her laugh among friends
Her smile as she catches my eye
Nurturing plants as they grow
The sight of a rare butterfly
Sharing the things that I love
Enjoyment to multiply
Loving the loves of my life
Loving the life that flies by.

Bollocks to Brexit, life’s about other stuff.

Thanks Drew. I was deliberately trying it as a format. All was well most of the way except for ‘The banter, the laughter, oh my’ which was a result of finding nothing else more suitable! In my previous ‘The two of us’ drabble poem I was trying out another format, which readers might miss, alternating the rhymes of ‘me’ and ‘see’ each verse. It was a rather silly indulgence on my part, but I enjoyed the challenge!🥴

Thanks very much Drew. It’s much appreciated to be appreciated.
Btw. I will be reading and commenting on your latest episodes shortly. We’ve been away at a book launch for one of my oldest mates who flew over from Pennsylvania specially for it. Trouble was it was far too highbrow for the likes of me, and even Mrs H (essays on contemporary authors, most of whom we’ve never heard of, let alone read!) Still, we bought the book, got the written dedication, so now we’ll have to take deep breaths and read the bugger! 😣

It’s ‘Resuming Maurice’
and other essays on writers and celebrity
By Philip Mosley
Thinking about it, it might be up your street Drew as you probably read the sort of authors he writes about! The only ones we recognised were Vita Sack I’ll West and Dylan Thomas. Never heard of the eponymous Maurice (Maurice Maeterlinck)!
Philip (or Pip as we all call him) is a lifetime academic (and a good old boy too) and an emeritus professor of Penn State university. Importantly, he can speak broad Norfolk, like what I can too, so we immediately power into it whenever we meet up. We always have a hell of a laugh!

Sackville! Bloody autocorrect (and bloody sloppy proofreading by yours truly!)

Noo! We met in the county, in Naridge, but I reckon that blook you was talkin to was probly roit!
We travelled up specially for the event (which was eclipsed by the drinks in the Wig & Pen later - with a bunch of schoolmates). The event was in a church and we stayed overnight in an old rectory, but that’s as religious as we got! Happy days!
