Wards and Warders #4

by

Mealtimes are serious. Visitors are thrown out so inmates can concentrate on eating. Believe me, you have to concentrate...

There’s a system. Each morning we’re given menus from which we choose the delectations we would like for lunch and supper. It’s an activity that keeps our brains active by making reasoned experiential judgements. Our name recorded at the top.

In my time here I’ve completed the form three times. Each mealtime, with my food, comes the menu completed earlier. My name hasn’t been at the top of any of them! That means some poor sod has got my weird choices!

I’m pretty good Drew, thanks. I feel fine, but they need to find out the root cause. The food hasn’t been so bad, just rather early for a 7o’clock supper eater like me. You realise that you (the patient) have to fit in with their routine. But with my iPad, I can watch catch-up tele until midnight (lights out at about 10pm). Yeeha!
But seriously though, I have nothing but praise for the NHS. The lift was on the blink today so I missed my MRI slot downstairs (even though I offered to walk again!) It’s done now, so we will see if they unchain me soon. Hope so.

Re Fedelta...I may have to consider another recap drabble or two. Even I have forgotten exactly where the story is. Oh yes, I remember, she’s getting Paolo to help with Terry’s funeral. That could be explosive.

Yeah, since the story opened with the funeral it will be interesting to see what happens beyond that now that we know the story and all the characters so intimately.

I would say good luck at the hospital but I know you're home now, so I hope you continue to recover.
