We were on our own for the day, just us two. The whole family would be coming the following day, Boxing Day, so Christmas Day would be work, work, work for us, to allow us to prepare for the big event. There would be no time to watch the TV... when we weren't cooking we would be cleaning.

But early morning our daughter gave us a ring to say she’d been given a ring herself. Instant tears... and that was me. Overjoyed, we attacked the day with verve and vigour. We didn’t ring her back as she was now engaged.

Thanks Christopher, LesleyAnne and Ginette. It was such lovely news. She had waited 12 years, two houses and one child, but she didn’t push her luck as she is disabled with MS.

Congratulations....I can see why it felt such an amazing engagement, lovely to have it all with guests around.
