I confess to tears in my eyes as the Glitterball Trophy winners were announced. The dancing from all four finalists in the Final was first class. The judges’ marks were very close... barely a gnat’s bollock between them all... but the judges’ marks didn’t count, just the popular vote. And at the end of the contest the people would choose the most popular.

The pretty young woman who lifted the Glitterball wasn’t at all glittery, she wasn’t ‘showbiz’. What she was though is the most charming, down-to-earth, honest, hardworking, dazzling dancer.

She had my vote... and my tears.

I don't think we have that over here. We have something called "Dancing With The Stars" but I don't watch it.

That title though, "Come Dancing," does remind me of The Kinks.

    Nice drabble, Neville.

Thanks Christopher. I was prompted to write it because I was so pleased for her as she seems such a lovely person as well as someone who has entered the programme without ever having danced before and ultimately danced like a star. I remember that Kinks song, it was a bit grubby... ‘And when they said come dancing, my sister always did’ (naughty boys!)

I’m totally with you there, Neville, and Kevin’s utter joy at winning made me cry! Some people I know shun the programme because it’s ‘showbiz’ but I think they’re missing out! I wish I could dance like they do!
