I chauffeured my daughter for a girls’ night out. Thirty minutes drive through country lanes... returning later in pitch dark.

Driving alone in Mrs H’s new car I was stopped at temporary traffic lights on a dark country lane. All was fine until I disengaged the gears. The ‘eco’ feature cut out the engine. It felt spooky because no other cars were about, and that particular bit of road was infamous for highwaymen, including the notorious ‘Wicked Lady’.

I like a bit of wickedness in my ladies, but as the lights changed I was happy to give her a miss!
