August. Destination Great Yarmouth - my icecream round.
Leave the factory at 10.30, with huge tubs of nice, but very naughty treats for expectant customers, with chocolate flakes for those who could afford to indulge in a ‘99’.
I travelled round housing estates and docks, where American oilmen would overindulge... making me lots of money!
Before dusk I visited riverside villages in that reclaimed flatland. Then it was the race home. The evening sea mist raced inland fast. I had to beat it. Chasing my tail lights at 60mph, it was 20 miles of touch and go.... and I really went!

Did you really used to sell ice cream? I'm assuming this was before the advertising days?
Neville Hunt about 6 years ago
Yes Christopher. It was a university vacation job. Dairyland Diploma Ices until the track rods on the very dangerous icecream van broke and I was almost pinned to the steering wheel by the massive freezer sliding forward☹️ Actually, I wrote a drabble about it a year or two ago.

The earlier drabble was entitled ‘Where the sun shineth not’ Christopher and I published it in Nov 2016.

My brain is currently mush. I'm sure I read it but had forgotten about it.
Neville Hunt about 6 years ago
Not at all Christopher. Why should you remember other folks historic ramblings?

I realise that there’s another drabble Christopher which gives more of the (almost) gory icecream van crash details. Search Flakey Thoughts (Cadbury’s Flakes are rippled chocolate sticks and when you stick them into an icecream cone it becomes a ‘99’).
