Our tight-knit group of five went regularly to Mars. We weren’t ‘creatives’, but our creativity belied that. My ‘poetry drawer’ was the receptacle for the team’s creative output, and was heaving. This fantastic atmosphere of competitive creative camaraderie prompted lunchtime quests to the ICA, National Gallery and Portrait Gallery nearby. Art engaged us... it was at our heart. Or so we thought.

Well respected by Mars clients, David was well-connected in Spanish circles. His “too busy... client meeting!” excuse for not attending a small private lunch with Salvador Dali broke the circle. What a waste, what a wan...!
