At 1.00am, when normal people would be fast asleep, my host Virgilio phoned my hotel room.
“Neville, we are going for a drink!”
What could I say except “When in Lisbon, do as the Lisboetas!”
We headed for Docas de Santo Amaro, or just Docas, a renovated dock area of Lisbon... when we could get there! It was 01.30am and a traffic jam proclaimed rush hour.
Bar next to restaurant next to club etcetera into the distance...
“My shout Virgilio!” indicated that I was buying.
“Duas cervejas por favor!” But I really did have to shout to get served.
Manic!

I went into a bar in Cardiff and said
‘Dau cwrw os gwelwch yn dda’ and he said - ‘are you taking the piss? I’m Polish’.

Sounds like an interesting evening.
I was hitting on a group of Portuguese women in a club once, but they weren't into me. I figured they must be Lisbions. (Sorry!)

Haha...Thanks Steve.😀
Lisbions...like it Christopher. 😀

Docas, pronounced ‘dokash’ - a visit there is a must, but don’t go before 11.30pm as it’s much livelier as the night wears on and the booze and atmosphere seeps in. (Wouldn’t interest you on the former front though Christopher. Sorry for that, but booze is a big social thing in Europe.)

It's okay. Booze is a big social thing everywhere! It's just not for me.
