Goldie #1

by

Back in 1881, Abram Lyle started producing a golden syrup in London. He called it ‘Goldie’. Captain Scott took it to Antarctica. He hadn’t survived, but his tins of Lyles Golden Syrup and their contents had when discovered in 1956. King George V loved it, giving it the Royal Warrant.

Guinness World Records claimed the iconic Lyle’s Golden Syrup tin as ‘the world’s oldest unchanged packaging’ - the same since 1883. The logo shows a dead lion surrounded by bees, and declares a biblical quotation ‘Out of the strong came forth sweetness’, relating to the story of Samson.

The syrup? Delilahghtful!

It doesn't cause hair loss, though, does it?
