They met at a ball held by the Non-ferrous Metals Guild. Her father had made his fortune in copper, whilst his family’s wealth came from supplying zinc for galvanised steel.
A redhead, she was strong-minded and determined. He was fair, but equally argumentative. It was love at first sight and they made a handsome, if quarrelsome, couple. Well matched, they wed within the year.
The result of their union was a baby boy. The name game became another fiery debate. She favoured the name Alan; his choice was Lloyd.
Stalemate was avoided by naming the little lad Alloy.
