Good old days

Checked the TV for something interesting to watch. Found ‘The Good Old Days’ from back in 1979 - a piece of history recreating history.... an old fashioned music hall... cleaned up for the BBC. The audience was invited on the proviso of wearing Edwardian dress. A wonderful sight with the fabulous Leonard Sachs as Master of Ceremonies.

The historic venue was the famous Leeds City of Varieties theatre. What wasn’t said was that the rest of the time it was known as the ‘Shitty Titties’. Striptease and dirty jokes for the grubby raincoat brigade and students. Oh I remember it well!
