For breakfast we always have toast. A lovely way to set yourself up for the day. But what to put on our toast varies from day to day. Nothing commercially produced allowed. It has to be a result of my own efforts.

Today it was marmalade, ‘Neville's Seville’, although Mrs H couldn’t wait for me to fetch a new jar. She’d already opened a jar of murky preserve of deep red hue. The label read ‘Jelm’

“What’s this?” she asked suspiciously.

“Raspberry jam with the pips squeezed out pretending to be jelly.”

“Oh really?... think I’ll wait for the marmalade...”
