My elder brother was the most challenging of the four of us. He was boistrous, loud and assertive... and bright. Mother had her work cut out keeping us, and particularly him, in check. It wasn't always easy.
Swearing was taboo in our house - Mother's rule... "No dirty words". Tricky to administer with boys. But she was strong, whilst also kind.
Once, my brother reacted angrily to being disciplined for something or other. He blurted out angrily.
"Peepooknickerbumdrawers!"
Silence.... then she roared with laughter. She couldn't do anything else.
Then we had an approved family expletive, which we all expleted regularly!

Thanks Drew. As an expletive it doesn't travel across the Pond I guess, but hey... it was very easy to say!

Incidentally, my mother was also heard to utter peepooknickerbumdrawers herself quite regularly. It has a lyrical flow to it.
