His career was in diamonds. No diamond dealer, but diamond stealer. And one of the best in his field. He'd built wealth through stealth, at dead of night.
His target lay sleeping, nutbrown hair splayed on the pillow framing what was the most beautiful face he had ever seen. Her rings lay on a table beyond, but had no appeal for him. In an instant, she had unconsciously captivated him. He had to be near her, absorb her.
Carefully he lay beside her. He didn't rob her, or rape her or even touch her. He just frightenened her to death.

Not just a fantasy?

A fantasy adaptation of 'The lady came from Baltimore'. It had a few iterations before I hit the keys, none of them including a fatality. However, after a bit of research on adrenaline overload, it seemed an ending which could be abrupt, due to word constraints.

Thanks Drew. The near her absorb her concept is likely to reappear in another drabble once I've completed the holiday drabbles which I realise are not yet over, groan though ye may!

Good drabble Neville. And, let's be honest here, we all enjoy a good groan now and then. And we all know you are a master of the groan 😉
