When I was young we seemed to have all the time in the world. Me and my best friend Peter were inseparable, well, except when he decided, stubbornly, to tidy his bedroom, and I decided he didn't like me anymore. Tidying bedrooms? That's mum's work.
We spent our time wapping flies in the back lane, making things, wandering about or cycling miles into the country to go past the house of his love interest, Penny Gaze. It seemed safe; no paedos, no crash helmets, few cars. We cycled past, Peter gazing. His gazes were in vain. They were never returned.

Definitely Drew, with 3 children and loads more grandchildren! We were only 14 or 15 at the time. Amazing when you think back that we were allowed to cycle way out into the county. But things seemed different then (they probably weren't...people just weren't so aware of them)

I've sent Peter the link to the drabble. I hope his missus doesn't intercept his emails :-)

I will suggest just that Drew. Thanks for the prompt. :-)
