Dennis and Nancy #2

by

The police were flummoxed. The gun carried Dennis's own fingerprints... yet they estimated he'd been shot from three yards away. This was no suicide. Foul play was indicated - 'professional'... by person unknown..

Who would want him dead? His wife Nancy?... but wasn't she already dead? A forensic search of his computer revealed some very unpleasant stuff indeed, and all very recent and brutal. This was a most unsavoury character. Possibly a killer too...

"We'll leave it as natural justice!" announced the police chief.

Nancy dropped the front door key into the sea as the long arms of the law folded.

This is for Frenchie, a response to her challenge for a follow up to 'Not right in the head'... but I think she might have meant something altogether more Machiavellian! I'll keep thinking... :-)

Thanks very much Drew. I really enjoy being handed a challenge. Maybe I should assess each drabble I write for its extrapolability... and then force a challenge on myself, unless the likes of Frenchie wants to throw down the gauntlet. [ I realise there's no such word as extrapolability, but I liked inventing it! :-) ]

I loved the long arm of the law line too!

Agree. You can really 'feel' it.
