We decided to go paddling. Collecting the little lad plus mum on the way, we drove to a nearby village, where the bubbling, gurgling River Lea races through on its way to join the mighty Thames. We found a tiny 'beachette'.

The little lad, all of 21 months, liked paddling. Moreover, he wanted a walk in the water, which was shallow there. Holding his hand, he pulled, I followed. We walked over 50 metres upstream, under a bridge to another exit point. Back to Granny.

Soaked but laughing, the idea was his, but the bollocking I got was all mine!

I would imagine it was worth it, Baba.

It certainly was. I'm usually the biggest bad boy!
