I woke in a strange bed, in a strange room, in a strange house, in the middle of the night. The window open wide, attempting to expel the heat, provided no feeling of security.
The room lit up. Unsure why I'd woken, I sensed I was not awake alone.
"Are you OK?" I asked.
"Not really.... I'm scared," was the nervous response.
FLASH! FLASH! FLICKER! CRASH! Now I knew why. Now I was scared too.
That bedroom scared us, lying, vulnerable. We moved quickly to the 'safety' of the large, multiple-windowed kitchen. Instantly fearless!
The light show was fabulous!

My wife adores an electric storm, as do I. We were alone in someone else's house which, in the middle of the night, threw us.

P.S. Drew, thanks for the comment.

I love rainstorms with thunder and lightning. What I don't like are the damaging high winds that can sometimes accompany those storms here in the deep southern portion of the U.S.
Great drabble, Neville.
