'The Ashes' contained in a small terracotta urn, cricket's most famous trophy, rumoured to be burnt 'bails'. Restricted to two teams, England and Australia fight voraciously to retain or regain.

At 94, that's a great innings. It's almost a Century! But when you're out, you're out!

He was definitely out, and we went to see him off the pitch in January. A lifelong cricketer, his interest in The Ashes became personal when he finally bailed out.

A six foot man, he produced a lot of ashes. At dead of night, his children spread him over his cricket club pitch!

"Owzat?"
