A cremation in the Quaker style. Packed to the roof, we said goodbye to our friend Sarah. Invited to stand up and say something if we wished, I wished I'd known earlier; I'd have had something to say.

Struck down by Lupus, a savage destroyer, this was a woman with enormous resources of courage. My story would have been about six of us, an open boat, engine broken, one oar, midnight, inebriated, having dined across the estuary, strong current powering us seawards, returning to potential orphans.

Level headed Sarah kept her head while the others quaked. She was no quaker!

Thanks, Lisa, she was quite remarkable and for most of the time she knew us (possibly before even) she had this evil condition Lupus. She was a classy lady and always kept up standards and importantly had a defined moral compass which she passed on to her two lovely children.

Thanks, Drew, it seemed like it merited the opportunity to say what I'd left unsaid.
