I was a Dairyland van driver - a converted Morris Minor. People liked the icecream, but every morning I saw the ingredients and couldn't share their passion.

My route - Gt Yarmouth, Gorleston and beyond. Already earned enough in 5 weeks university vacation for my first car. Heading south on a narrow country lane, a car drove straight at me. I swerved, hit left bank, twirled twice and headlong into right bank. The maniac sped away. The sudden twisting wrenched the freezer tight, saving my life.

The garage told my boss his van was lethal.

I told him where to store his icecream.

Completely true. Forensic examination indicated that the Morris Minor van, pretty unstable as an ice cream van anyway, was an accident waiting to happen. It took an idiot coming the other way to prove it. I kept the Flakes, since I'd had to buy them myself. Post accident they were very flaky!

Thanks, Lisa. The big freezer was not bolted to the floor and such was the impact with the bank, they said it would have slid forward and impaled me on the steering wheel had it not wrung and got jammed! Eeek! Another narrow escape!

Thanks Jeff and Jamie. Yes, Jeff, it was never put back on the road!

Ice cream ingredients? Well the main one was a kind of margarine. A massive block of off-white vegetable far that would put you off your breakfast, lunch and dinner for a whole day! The ice cream I make has double cream, egg yolks, sugar and whole milk...so much more palatable (well, to me anyway!).

Thanks, Drew, I had feared no one would get the last line; I suspect you were the only one! And yes I really did! (One of those times when I did say what I thought I should have later, if that makes any sense?)

(By the way, sorry for not reading all your Apartment series yet. I have been frighteningly busy chasing a uni assignment hand-in deadline. Will play catch up next week.)
