She's painting the compost heap today. Some people think that's rubbish... not me.

She's not making a statement about decay, or waste, or recycling, or death. She's just painting a pile of discarded vegetables and dead and dying weeds and plants. It happens at this time of year. The allotment holders always seem to grow too much. Mid September it's usually past its best. But she thinks it's at its best. The reds are so red, the greens are so green and other things are in between. She captures them as they inspire her palette.

And her painting won't smell!

    Wow, I hadn't thought of that, Drew. A rather Keatsian thought! However, it's Mrs H. Sorry if that's a let down.

    What a coincidence! On Radio 4's Today programme today a reading of Keat's Ode to Autumn. It was lovely!
