Crabble

I made crab apple jelly today.

The apples looked awful, even the maggots escaped as I'd washed them. I wasn't looking forward to the task. I'd been putting it off for a week. The crab apples responded by starting to rot in sequence.

But today I woke before 6, having slept well. The perfect time and mental attitude to tackle the rotters. I'd boiled them and strained the mush through a jelly bag days earlier. The liquid looked murky. Sugar added, I boiled until setting point. Lovely colour, perfectly set.

I threw it all away - I couldn't taste the crab!
