My wife admitted to me that aged 14 she'd dreamed of marrying a royal prince.

At 16 she met me. Two years growing up and what a contrast! My only claim to royalty was drinking in the Prince of Denmark, but reading his story, you realise he's not such a great role model. So what happened?

Maybe she joined the rest in the real world. Maybe she became aware of royal antics, but I rather think it was love at first sight across a room, for both of us. Serendipity beats celebrity.

My princess ended up with loyalty, not royalty.

I think you both came out on the better end of the deal, my friend. Very nice drabble.

Thanks, Christopher. Neither of us seems to be complaining about opportunities lost or les temps perdus!

Thanks Snow and Aspen. It was today that she told me. It had to merit a drabble :-)

It lives here, Drew...against the odds in some respects as I was begged not to marry her in a spectacular display of tears and anger. Mrs H showed remarkable self-belief, strength of character and tenacity (it wasn't a single outburst)...and yet she's been the perfect daughter! Forgiveness is its own blessing...and I've not turned out too bad!
(There must be a drabble or three in this stream...!)
