It was a wonderful opportunity. He was doing a living room gig and I would be attending. I'd inflicted my punk hero Wreckless Eric on my kids and one of them remembered.
In a smart house in London, he was playing stuff I could listen to on Spotify at home. But that wasn't the point! I was in heaven. Of course, I took all my vinyls along and Eric graciously signed them. I chatted to him earnestly like a kid again. I was Walking on the Surface of the Moon!
But what's this, Eric, drinking tea? Not very rock'n'roll sir!

Just listened to Eric again, twice! His John Peel Session on YouTube from way back when. Still great stuff, Eric!

It's said you should never meet your heroes. In case they don't live up. You must've thought 'tonight is my night' I enjoyed the prompt to revisit too. Thanks.

I bet you would've gone the Whole Wide World for that opportunity, Neville!

Thanks Shaun. Eric didn't let me down, although I suspect that my signed albums may not fetch that much at auction! I won't Take the Kash!
Thanks Christopher...I'm impressed; you have done your homework. Are you a researcher in your day job by any chance?

No, I'm just a fan of that song. The mother in the song is so wonderfully pessimistic. "There's only one girl in the world for you but she probably lives in Tahiti!" That's parenting right there!

And I'm only a researcher in my spare time. :)

And I thought I was the only person in the whole wide world, even Tahiti, who was a fan of Eric! :-)
