Missing the point

Standing atop the roof, anyone looking up must have assumed that he was re-pointing the chimney. We make these natural assumptions based on our experience, common sense and in this case, the juxtaposition of man and chimney. We have no reason to think ‘this man is in mental anguish, is suicidal, is about to end his life’, we probably just think ‘rather him than me!’

Max wasn’t planning to end his life, he was actually trying to improve it. He was on a DIY satellite dish re-pointing exercise. Maybe he should have re-pointed the chimney first though.
