It was a fabulous house; 800 years old. My wife's brother brought his family back from Africa to the garden county of Kent. But the children felt they were not alone.

Old houses need TLC... lots of it! The roof, plaster, woodworm, plumbing all had to be done. 13th Century structure, 16th Century windows, 19th Century water system. A plumber was engaged to fix one of the bathrooms.

The children often watched him work.

"Your little girl was lovely, sitting there in her dressing up clothes," he said one Monday.

"But the kids were all at school!" said their mum.

Thanks Drew. It really freaked them all out. Despite it being a lovely house they couldn't wait to move on. It was a bit chilling; nothing nasty but creepy!
