Her muted cries shimmered from behind the cold amorphous surface of an unbreakable dark barrier. I watched, dumbstruck with horror and loss at what I watched.

Moments before, we were at conversational play, beats resonating in tune as personalities harmonized after lifetimes of separated static. But the pitchfork frequency soon separated channels, till the orchestra cracked air with its strings.

I watched the void swallow her. Plasma crystalized between bodies, as our clasp was ripped in two. The electric void separated us until we each watched a mirror with opposite faces, helpless. Crackling. Drifting us again into separate alien worlds.
