I gasped for air in between sobs as I tried to explain to the officers what happened to me just moments ago. The man chasing me through the woods suddenly turned around and ran the other way, just as he had pushed me down a steep hill. I sat there covered in bruises and scratches and dirt as they took my statement and contacted my parents. Hopefully, I thought, hopefully I didn't throw myself down a hill for nothing and this will be enough to convince my mom to let me stay home from school tomorrow to skip my exam.

Hah! Nice twist. The title gives it away, but I thought this was very clever.

Maria, I loved this little convincing piece. It made me laugh at the end remembering trying to get out of school when I was younger. (Although, I never resorted to this!) It was very conniving of you and the main character to sneak the truth past us in the lies. Great job!
