Through the foggy haze of my deep sleep, I felt wisps of something brush across my face and a heavy weight upon my chest. I quickly opened my eyes and forced the cobwebs from my head. I willed the rusty areas of my mind to coalesce into a higher cognitive function.

I searched in the pitch blackness of the still night for my glasses, my eyes were as focused as they were going to get, fumbled for the light and saw it. Three o'clock in the morning and there sat my cat reminding me the food bowl was empty again.
