The little red fire truck bounced and shook jarringly as its two young first responders imitated a siren as they they careened down the hill toward their imaginary emergency. The big red fire truck, lights flashing, lightly bounced and shook its occupants of first responders as it sped down the street, siren screaming, toward a real emergency.
Today, no one can say for sure what they saw and heard, but for one sickening instant in time, the two red trucks became one as the sirens, real and imagined, the first responders, real and pretend, and all the reluctant witnesses screamed.

Tanks, Drew. I'm using drabbles to tell tighter short fiction stories with greater impact without them being vignettes.

This is absolutely top notch work, Michael. Close to a perfect drabble for me. Very impressive writing. Can't believe I'm the only one to vote for it so far! :-(

@ Horrorshow Glad you liked it. Perhaps others are perplexed by it or find it too disturbing. Sometimes you encounter a piece you just don't know what to make of it.

Disturbing, but clever, neat and succinct story
