Young things are easily bored by their parent’s reminiscences - why do we do it?
At a superficial level I think
we’re trying to get across that we were young once and had fun too, not some different species. We hope they’ll realise that we shared similar emotions that they are probably experiencing themselves and consequently might benefit from lessons learned during our own lifetimes.
During recent ramblings I could see my son was losing concentration so stupidly asked whether he was truly interested in our family history.
He said "Up to a point but Grandpa’s stories were much more interesting!"
